The group's story begins in 1964 with Himalaya House on Chowringhee Road. Over the decades that followed, the Samtani name became synonymous with dependable construction — landmark after landmark, from India House on Ganesh Chandra Avenue to the IDBI Building on Shakespeare Sarani.
Along the way, the group's entrepreneurial spirit reached well beyond real estate. Under Veejay Impex, a Government of India recognised Star Export House, the group exported frozen marine products from its own MPEDA-approved seafood processing plant to clients across Japan, the USA, China, the Middle East and South East Asia. A leather division crafted hand-painted handbags, purses and accessories for markets in the US, Europe and Australia. Both businesses, now closed, remain a proud chapter in the group's history.
In 1990, the group built The Samilton Hotel on Sarat Bose Road and entered hospitality — a division that today spans two hotels, a rooftop resto-bar, and banquet spaces serving thousands of guests each year.
Every project handed over to its purchasers' full satisfaction — a promise kept for over six decades.
